Company’s BioMedicine Design (BMD) High-Throughput Protein Production (HTP) Group is seeking a highly motivated scientist with experience working with a range of macromolecules: DNA construct design/assembly, DNA and RNA production, mammalian, cell culture & transfections, protein purification, and automated liquid handling. The candidate will play a critical role in a core group that consistently delivers hundreds of RNA and protein samples per week to research teams across BMD. The candidate will be responsible for generating DNA constructs and performing and optimizing high-throughput processes for macromolecule production (DNA, RNA, and protein). The candidate will also be responsible for updating the laboratory database and relaying data in organized presentations to project teams.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • DNA plasmid design & cloning.
  • Automated high throughput DNA purification.
  • High throughput molecular biology operations, including PCR setup, in vitro transcription, DNA & RNA purification using liquid handling automation.
  • DNA & RNA quantitation & QC
  • Cell transfection with DNA and mRNA.
  • Optimization & automation of processes throughout the DNA/mRNA workflow.
  • Organization and storage of DNA fragments/plasmids and IVT samples, including tracking using Genedata Biologics Software, as well as record keeping using electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Close interaction with project teams.
  • Regular review of literature to maintain knowledge of scientific trends and industry processes, advance molecular biology and protein production methods.
  • Track record of high-quality execution of standard laboratory operating procedures.
  • Track record of strong problem solving and organizational skills, orientation to detail.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in molecular biology: DNA/mRNA preparation and analysis, PCR, molecular cloning, construct design, sequence analysis
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, work under strict deadlines, and remain flexible with changing needs.
  • Ability to work effectively to solve process development problems and implement improved procedures.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.

What is the minimum education experience required?: 

  • Bachelor’s degree & 2 years of experience, or Associate’s degree with 3+ years of experience, in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, Biological Engineering or a related discipline along with a basic understanding of molecular biology and protein expression
