Job Title: Patient care technician
12-hour shifts – Days (0630 to 1900) and nights (1830 to 0700)
Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include providing daily living assistance.
- Grooming and bathing patients with low mobility
- Preparing each patient room with necessary items like blankets, pillows, medical equipment and bathroom needs.
- Assisting patients with mobility needs, transferring them from wheelchair to bed
- Lifting, turning or adjusting patients in bed to prevent bedsores or other discomfort
- Exercising patients by helping them walk.
- Helping patients eat:
- Making sure they have their meal in their room (if that is what they want).
- Discussing with the appropriate staff the amount of food taken.
- Monitoring patient behavior and reporting any issues to the nursing staff.
- Notifying the nurse if there is an issue with the infusion
- Ensuring that the PD patient is at all scheduled activities on time.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- CPR Certified
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), preferred.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must successfully complete all Company specified training programs.
- Able to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Able to work various schedules and shifts as needed.
- Weekends required
- Must pass background check and drug screen
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy and compassion
- Effective communication skills, including active listening, writing, speaking and reading comprehension
- Good collaboration and teamwork skills
- Fast and adaptive problem-solving abilities
- Keen attention to detail
- In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations
- Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions
- Comfortable working with specific populations of patients, including Parkinson Patients.
- Physical strength and stamina (must be able to lift more than 50lbs.)
