Job Title: Patient care technician

12-hour shifts – Days (0630 to 1900) and nights (1830 to 0700)

Responsibilities

• Responsibilities include providing daily living assistance.
• Grooming and bathing patients with low mobility
• Preparing each patient room with necessary items like blankets, pillows, medical equipment and bathroom needs.
• Assisting patients with mobility needs, transferring them from wheelchair to bed
• Lifting, turning or adjusting patients in bed to prevent bedsores or other discomfort
• Exercising patients by helping them walk.
• Helping patients eat:
• Making sure they have their meal in their room (if that is what they want).
• Discussing with the appropriate staff the amount of food taken.
• Monitoring patient behavior and reporting any issues to the nursing staff.
• Notifying the nurse if there is an issue with the infusion
• Ensuring that the PD patient is at all scheduled activities on time.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• CPR Certified
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), preferred.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Must successfully complete all Company specified training programs.
• Able to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos
• Able to work various schedules and shifts as needed.
• Weekends required
• Must pass background check and drug screen
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy and compassion
• Effective communication skills, including active listening, writing, speaking and reading comprehension
• Good collaboration and teamwork skills
• Fast and adaptive problem-solving abilities
• Keen attention to detail
• In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations
• Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions
• Comfortable working with specific populations of patients, including Parkinson Patients.
• Physical strength and stamina (must be able to lift more than 50lbs.)
